40 Rivers To Freedom

Fly Fishing & Fly Tying Blog

redgold

I have a brand smokin new copy of Red Gold, courtesy of the Hatches DVD Store.  Ya see, Hatches has recently upgraded the ol’ DVD shop, including the addition of a bunch of super ginormous HD trailers.  This is only the first of several phases of awesomeness you’ll be seeing in the near future from Hatches- but that’s a secret.

If you don’t know, Red Gold documents the incredible run of sockeye salmon in Alaska’s Bristol Bay, as well as shed light on the proposed Pebble Mine.

I’ve always felt the best (and probably only) way to get people to fight for a river, or ecosystem, is to let them come and expereince it’s beauty for themselves.    After watching Red Gold for the first time last week, I’d say the second best way is to put your ecosystem on a DVD.  You cannot not* be moved by this movie.

I know you want it, and you know I want to give it away- so here’s the deal.

Leave a comment here, or on the 40 Rivers Facebook Page about the fly fishing related conservation issue that is most important to you.  One lucky commentor will get a copy of Red Gold.

Another Sweet Deal

If anyone out there is looking for a Sage TXL 6′3″ 3wt 3pc Custom rod for a jaw droppingly low price, check out this link.

I can't honestly say that any one issue gets my attention.Perhaps because I have not had any really bad situations… yet. I know that TU catches some flack at times as being "elitist", but you know what…I don't care! At least this group of outdoors people care enough about damaged streams and such to get out and do something. Even if it is only making a small donation , every bit helps! NO, I am not a member, but only because there is no chapter near me. If there was you can bet your bottom dollar I would be out with the others, doing what I can to clean up and restore some of God's handiwork…and maybe in the process I could "un -elite" a few members with me down home Southern charm…then again maybe not…
