I make my living farming a golf course but my passion is fly fishing. There are many greenkeeps whom fish and would gladly join an effort to protect fisheries. Flyfishing like politics makes strange boatmates, eh?

Please! You're going to totally spoil fly fishing if you keep writing stuff like this.

Looking down on catch and kill redneck bait fisherman rif-raff is a large part of the fun of the sport...at least since they abolished flogging peasants to death for poaching trout and salmon.

(Mentioning Musical Theater in a fly fishing blog is certainly douche-baggery.) You are too funny! I've got to step away from your notes for a day or so. Right now I'm thinking you're the next John Gierach - I'm probably delusional from too much coffee.

Never the less, I couldn't agree more. Stomp out snobbery.

Well written and nicely put...for a self proclaimed D.B. However not all commercial fishermen are worth their salt. I have seen commercial mullet fishermen (before the net ban) gut their whole catch of several hundred pounds, just to get to the roe to ship overseas. The rest was tossed back in the drink. Those are the ones I consider rapist. If they are abiding by the rules, regs and limits, then they are working class stiffs just like me and I applaud EVERY WORKING person!!
