Tying the Temple Kitty by Nick Pionessa
Articles, Fly Patterns, Step-by-Step Tutorials — By Alex Cerveniak on November 3, 2009 10:28 amThis is a scaled down version of the European type of tube flies originally called Temple Dogs. Since I’m not too down with the whole dog hair thing, and we all know a fine stream with a feline’ian nick name, so there you have it. Any color combo is possible. I have had good luck with or without the JC eyes but they are cool and chicks dig em. I halloweened this one up for a friend, but the black and orange combo has worked well. White over purple is also a long standing favorite, as is grey over white, and black over purple. Completing the fly with an octopus hook riding point up ensures the fly will track true with the light tube.
Nick owns and operates the Oak Orchard Fly Shop, in Williamsville, NY- that’s just outside of Buffalo. Tags: Black, Intermediate, Nick Pionessa, Orange, Tan, Tube, White
