Hatches 2011: The Sasquatch by Nick Granato

A few years back I joined a fly swap on Drake Magazine’s forum. Since it was my first swap, with people from all over the country who target any number of species, I found myself a little perplexed as to which pattern to tie.
Since the streamer was to go to quite a diverse group of anglers, I wanted to tie a pattern that could be fished with confidence for trout, bass, pike, snook, musky and other freshwater and saltwater species. I realized I needed to cram a lot into one pattern, so I set out to create a streamer with a realistic baitfish profile, maximum movement while retrieved or at rest, a mild sink rate, a head that would push water, and the ability to be tied in virtually any color scheme with common materials.
