This will be an ongoing series of posts meant to inspire people. Want to see your bench? Have a neat storage system or feature you want to share with the world? Brett Sherwood from Salmon Arm British Columbia.
“I first learned fly tying when I was a teenager then I lost the art for many many years, and have just re-found my passion for tying my own flies in the last couple of years. There are not many things that can match the feeling of bringing in a fish on a fly that i tied myself. I have lived in Salmon Arm BC Canada for my whole life and I’m an AVID fisherman. Last year I was out 20 times, which i think is pretty good considering I don’t ice fish. This is my “space” , cozy , cluttered , but all me. It’s tucked in a corner of my den, patiently waiting for me to sit in my favourite chair. You notice I am surrounded by things that inspire me and things that remind me of my family.”
Next up is Friend of Hatches John Collins. I guess being a professional tier means you need organization. WOW!
Rounding out PART 1 is Drew Price. Check out Drew’s blog- http://dponthefly.blogspot.com/
“This is the desk I have set up right now. The peg board is pretty handy for keeping tools and other supplies close at hand as well as working as a pretty handy drying rack. I have pretty good illumination from the lamp. Everything is pretty close at hand. I have a homemade epoxy epoxy wheel on the other side and a thread rack for thread, wire and tinsel. The desk drawers are loaded with goodies and I have plenty of large storage nearby as well.”

KEVIN GOOD WORK,I NEED THIS PICTURES TO ORGANIZE MY SELF,I WILL TAKE A PICTURE NOW AND AFTER,AS I GET NEW IDEAS FROM YOUR POST,THANK YOU,GOOD LOOKING OUT.
Fernando… I have nothing to to with it. We’d have nothing to show without readers submitting their photos. This is just #1…there are more great benches to come!
Honestly now….how can ANYONE get any work done at a desk that neat?!?!?!? LOL!
Id love to send a photo of my bench but my wife keeps putting the dinner on it !!!
Yes, I am a little suspicious of any fly tying desk that is too neat and clean. When I get going, I tend to build up a layer of items and every now and then I have to clean up to see what I’m doing.
Also, do any of you use a special color background behind your tying area to better see your work??
