Kast Extreme Fishing Gear- Steelhead Glove Review
featured, Gear, Product Reviews, Product Spotlight — By Kevin Hospodar on March 29, 2012 10:46 amEnter Kast Extreme Fishing Gear. I first saw cast at the IFTD show where they made their big launch, with a focus on technical features and unique styling, I was excited to pick up a pair of the Steelhead gloves. Claiming waterproof, windproof, warmth, and built for dexterity… how can you go wrong.

The Steelhead gloves feature the OutDry membrane. This system is directly bonded to the shell of the glove. This creates a one-piece glove that prevents air, wind, or water to penetrate the outer shell. In use this gives a fit and dexterity found in no other gloves.

There are some great features that make this fishing specific glove a step above just “normal gloves”. A waterproof wrist gasket keeps unwanted water out.

A super grippy palm and nosewipe on the thumb. The palm is touted that it “minimizes slime loss and damage to fish including anadramous species”.
The low profile while still having enough insulation to keep you warm. Also the upper is constructed with 4-way stretch material for unlimited movement.

Great looking pair of gloves – I’ve tried many cold-weather gloves in the past but most of them are not flexible enough to wear and handle fly line.
So my question is – how wearable are they when fluff-flinging?
Overall this glove is by far the best out there.
Durability- I have beat them as hard as I can and they still look brand new.
Reliability- Warm dry hands you can ‘t beat it.
Value-Unless you don’t need gloves to stay warm and dry in the cold weather fishing season, then you can’t beat the price for these.
Usability- They are super comfortable with all the right features. And they can strip line , land fish, and aren’t oversized. So the two seconds it takes to tie a fly on your line, and then put the gloves back on you are good.
Kast makes great techinal apparel for flyfishermen both cold and warm weather. I am definitely an OUT”KAST”. Hehe Play on words.
Where can I buy these gloves in Ontario Canada? What is the sizing like?
Thanks,
Nicholas
