Tie in 4.5 mm dumbbells down
Cut a 3 mm strip of mild jug plastic
Measure the strip against the hook from mid eye to the tail
And cut into a football shape, curved scissors help.
You could add .02 lead wire if you would like a bit more weight.
Lash the plastic on, by starting in the middle and working toward the eye then back to the tail.
Tie in a piece of larva lace down the middle and over the end of the plastic.
Make three turns of larva lace at the end and chinch down with a turn or two of thread.
Tie in the goose biota tail.
I put a little head cement or zap a gap on at this step.
Wrap the larva lace up to the eye and tie off
Tie crystal chenille at the eyes and make a turn about just above mid point of the fly.
Cut a ¼ inch strip of black synthetic chamois, cut a v and tie in as the first set of wing buds.
Tie in flex floss legs.
Make turn over the legs and under the gap in the eyes and a turn in front of the eyes and tie off.
Tie xxx fine rubber legs for antenna.
Bring the strip of chamois up to the eye and folded over. Make a couple of loops over the fold and chinch down to form a “hammer head and tie off underneath.
Lay the remaining strip over the back and trim to the desired length, then cut the final v.
Trim and legs, tail and antenna
For as complex as it may sound it’s really easy to tie. 10 -15 mins
