Barr’s BWO Emerger
By Bugsy on Apr 17, 2008 in Coldwater, Fly Patterns
Hook: Your favorite dry fly hook, standard or 1XL
Thread: To match natural
Tail: Stiff brown rooster hackle fibers, clipped to length
Abdomen: Fine olive dubbing, synthetic (superfine) or natural
Thorax: Gray dubbing, synthetic or natural
Wingcase: Stiff dark dun hackle fibers
Legs: Same as wingcase, clipped behind thorax
John Barr pattern
Simple fly, but keep it slender. Secure wingcase fibers prior to dubbing thorax, complete thorax, bring fibers over top of thorax and secure with two thread wraps. Pull several fibers back along each side, make two more wraps, clip unused fibers, finish head. Leg fibers are slightly longer than thorax.
