Pros
Perhaps the single most helpful boko I have ever purchased on the subject of fly tying. I have yet to find something that I wanted to be able to do that was not covered in this book.

Cons
Will cause marital issues for you if you do not have the self restraint to rip yourself from your tying desk as you go through this book.

Pros
"THE" book to have for fly tying. I have many tying technique style books, but I could throw then rest of them away since I own this one. Excellent is the only word to describe this book. Well worth the price!!!

Cons
A bit pricey....but well worth it!

Pros
My wife bought this book for herself, but i got to look at it as well. In my opinion, this is far and away he best description and how-to book on flytying available to the the fly tier. It covers almost every technique of interest to a fly tier. Therre are probably some minor omissions of highly specialized techniques, but it has been missing nothing that I was interested in. the directions and illustrations are quite clear illustrating different techniques.

Cons
The only drawback is price. At $100 list, it is fairly steep for a book. However, with a little judicious shopping, it can be obtained for quite a bit less.

Pros
Although I do not own a copy of this book I do have it on a disk. This book should be called everything you want to know about fly tying but were afraid to ask. It covers just about everthing and in good detail. If you dont have this information you should.

Cons
I know the book and disk are expensive, but I lucked out and got a coppied disk. No bad things to say. Its all good

Pros
The is the best HOW TO Reference book out there. It will NOT tell you how to tie a particular pattern. What is does tell you is how to do any partilar step in any pattern you may have come across. If you are going to get serious about tying flies...you need this book on your bench.

If you like this book, you'll love EMERGERS by the same folks.

Cons
I have none. With all those photos...it has to come with a big sticker but it's well worth the investement. Shop around and you can find it for a lot less than the retail price.

Pros
Excellent book. I have the spiral edition. Excellent photos and procedures. I would reccomen this book to both beginners and intermediate tyers. Descriptions of procedures and purpose of each step is clearly defined. The book is printed on high gloss paper and has large format photos to assist visual learners.

Cons
To accept this book as a beginners book is to find no cons with this book.

Pros
The greatest how-to book i own. I bought after suggestions and reading about it on the FTF (flytyingforum.com), no regrets in this purchase at all. The best thing is as well as the littature, you have a very good illistration and very many step-by-step insrtuctions to aid in your development. This book has helped me greatly, and i figure it has also saved me money by doing things right the first time.

Cons
Shop around for a better price....but it's well worth it!

Pros
Some may be taken back when they first look at it. Its not a book that shows how to tie any pattern from start to finish. It does show just about every tying technique you can think of and then some. It leaves the final pattern up to the tyer but will help you with any specific look you want on any part of the pattern.

Cons
Some have put the price as a con. If you were to buy all the books that would give you the combined information, the 100 dollars would look dirt cheap. The only con I see is buying this book after you have bought a load of others. Buy it first and there would be no cons.

Pros
I have the electronic version of this book on CD and find it indespensible. I copied it to my hard drive so I have it where ever I go. It has been very useful as a supplement to not very well described fly recipes I find on the Web.

Cons

Pros
I doubt there's anything that's not coved here. And frequently several descriptions on other ways to 'skin the cat.' This is a 'life work' book.

You can open this book to any page and have a great read.

Cons
The 'listed price' is waaay over most folks budget. That said you can get a far better 'deal' through on-line book sellers.

Pros
Awesome reference for anyone looking to learn different tecniques related to fly tying. The price is worth it when you consider everything that is in this book.

Cons
I wish I would have listened and bought this book way earlier. It put several books in my library out of commission

Pros
Every tier should have this book. I don't know how I ever tied without it! Especially if you are into the "art" if tying flys. It is Worth ever dime I spent on it. After going through it just once, I must say, it's worth well over the SRP of $100.00. I found out why most of my flys would not look like the pictures. It's all in the technic. This book teaches you technics! My wings on a Royal Coachman now looks like they are suppose to! This book is impossible to set down!

Cons
Very expensive for some people to justify in their minds to buy without looking at it's content. Look around on the internet. I found it for $63.00. Buy this book!

Pros
A superb book which covers a whole raft of tying techniques. It is a weighty tome and the authors have gone to great effort to provide and exhaustive resource for flytying techniques. Anyone with an interest in fly tying; regardless of experience should own a copy.

Cons
Price aside; the main criticism I can lay at this book is the fact that the images are small and it is not always clear what you should be doing from the actual description. I know this is not a book of patterns, it tells you how to sauté the onions rather than how to make a bolognaise, but seeing a few of the techniques come together in patterns would have been nice.

Pros
(electronic version)Excellent piece of work, my hat is off to the group of collaborators on this. The book is full of techniques that can be used by anyone that wants to take time to learn. Do not have interest in a technical help in chapter 7 so be it I need help I can find in chapter 9.

Cons
Should have went for the Hardcover, a bit more money but it would solve my only con. PDF verion has you scrolling from top to bottom of page and I sometimes find that frustating. Solved the issue by printing out the pages and putting in a binder. If not for this I would have given it a 10
