I don’t know why but it seems like we were being invaded a bit by the frogs on the river this weekend.
We spent a full day and 3/4 on the water and walked a long way, even for me to get away from crowds. Mission accomplished and we found pods of dropback steel every mile […]

Day 2 on the river for the group started off well, we got into the run we wanted early and had it to ourselves for a good chunk of the morning. We were in the upper river and Blake and Sal started out swinging flies. It only took a few minutes to get the sleepies […]

Let’s be honest, or at least pratical by fishermen’s standards, There’s mouning evidence, at least in my eyes, that we are doing harm to our beloved streams…We can’t just pass off the spread of invasives to birds, animals, and paddlers….Is it a coincidence that the 22 bridge on the Kill has the Snot, the Upper Delaware […]

Whip asked myself, The Legend and Patrick to help him out with a group of eight people guiding for 2 days on the Salmon. I was happy to help. I was also siked to see 3 switches and 1 spey rod in the mix. The rest were indicator guys. The day started out as usual, awkward introductions and […]

Made it out Sunday in search of some hatches. With all of the summer like temps I had a feeling something was going to be happening somewhere. Well bugs, bugs and more bugs were happening. There were lots of stone flies, crane flies but the mayflies brought the fish up and thats what I wanted to […]

Striped Bass make their spawning runs up to the dam in Albany in the Hudson and their arrival is anxiously forecasted by every chunker and live bait chucker within spitting distance of a white fiberglass 8 foot heavy action stick attached to a Penn spinner. It just so happens that I can get there in […]

Seined these Olive Nymphs on the local ditch the other day. Blue Winged Olive can discribe many bugs from many families of mayflies. I’m pretty sure these are from the family Baetidae.

Got out yesterday for a long walk with The Legend. Nice day throwing buggers on on some local ditches.
I sent the bugger across the flow and stripped it through across the eddy, the fish flashed once, porpoised on the fly and missed, I took 2 more strips and connected.
The fish sounded and felt like it […]

Made it out yesterday in search of the first trout of the year. Drove far and wide covering lots of miles and water. Even with the great weather the water is still on the cold side and the fishing was slow. Slow fishing on a great day beats doing most anything else. Saw turkeys, deer, […]
